Victoria Branch Social Work Forum 2026

On 10 April 2026, the AASW Victoria Branch of the hosted their Social Work Forum on the theme ‘Many Voices, One Profession’ at Monash University’s Caulfield campus.

150 social workers came together to celebrate the diversity of the profession, taking part in 13 workshops and webinars from Victorian social workers on topics ranging from family violence and policy, to school based social work and the use of generative AI in social work practice.

Keynote addresses where delivered by Liz Little, AASW National President, and Professor Sarah Wendt, Director of the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) of South Australia.

The forum welcomed a diverse range of attendees from across Victoria, from students and new graduates through to seasoned social workers with over 15 years of practice, representing both metro Melbourne and regional areas.

Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees describing the presentations as informative and engaging. Among the key themes that emerged from the day were the value of connecting with social workers across domains of practice, and the opportunity to engage with one another and with the AASW on the important matters of professional registration and social work scope of practice. Attendees also highlighted the significance of the forum as a step toward the revitalisation of the Victoria Branch and stronger local representation for social workers across the state.
