Bindi Bennett 


Bindi is a social justice scholar, activist and academic, and a Gamilaroi woman from northern New South Wales who currently lives and works on Jinibara Country in Queensland. Her pathway into social work was shaped by encouragement from a significant Elder and by her own lived experience.

Bindi spent 17 years working in mental health and youth health, advocating for young people who have experienced a disadvantaged life. She has been active in academia since commencing her PhD scholarship in 2013 and is a past member of the AASW National Research Committee.

Passionate about diversity, representation and inclusion, Bindi believes lived experience is central to dismantling systemic barriers and creating more equitable systems.
