Learn more about our Keynote Speaker Dr Lorraine Muller

Dr Lorraine Muller is a proud Indigenous Australian scholar, author, and social work leader with a deep commitment to fostering intercultural respect and understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. She is the first person to be awarded two PhDs from James Cook University, with her research contributing foundational theory to Indigenous Australian social-health practice and cross-cultural frameworks.
Her work is grounded in the Indigenous concept of respect, and she has dedicated her career to decolonising practice, developing culturally safe approaches in health and human services, and promoting ethical research with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Dr Muller holds adjunct appointments across several leading institutions, including Central Queensland University, Batchelor Institute, James Cook University, and the University of Queensland. She is widely published, a member of numerous national ethics and advisory committees, and a Fellow of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Her publications, keynotes, and masterclasses continue to shape education, research, and policy within the profession.
