Event description:
This webinar with explore the increasing emphasis from employers and in the literature of the role of supervision in preventing vicarious trauma and burnout and attending to social workers well-being. It will explore questions around the boundaries of supervision and counselling, as well as the role of Lived Experience discussions in supervision practice. It will draw on current thinking and emerging research around the effects of empathic engagement with others on the social worker and examine the role of supervision in relation to vicarious trauma and vicarious resilience. There will be opportunity to share insights with other supervisors and consider changes to your own practice.
The webinar would aim to:
Who should attend?
This is for social worker supervisors, new and experienced, who are interested in thinking through ethical and practice dilemmas in the provision of supervision. Participants will consider the impact social work practice on the professional and personal self, and the role of supervision in exploring this issue. It will assist supervisors review their provision and consider whether they wish to proactively adjust their focus with some supervisees. This content is not covered in this depth in other AASW Supervision programs, with some based on recent research undertaken by the presenter.
