The theme for this year’s World Social Work Day is: “Co-building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society”. This afternoon gathering offers us an opportunity to come together to engage collectively with this year's theme and what it means for social work practice. This experience will be guided and informed by selected speakers. Light refreshments provided.

About our Presenters
Meg Davis has been a social worker in Townsville since 1978. Her work has included supporting homeless persons, families, mental health and systemic advocacy and networking. Integral to Meg's social work practice has been supporting women to access their rights. From 1998 until mid-2020, Meg managed the Townsville Multicultural Support Group Inc. Inspired by former refugee women from African countries, Meg researched resettled women's experiences of belonging in North Queensland (Townsville and Cairns). Meg graduated with a PhD in March 2025. She is an advocate for human rights-based social work practice and feminist regional resettlement policy.
