Presented by NSW BMC member Rex Zhang, this event launches a journal project featuring reflections from international social work students.
The session will highlight their experiences of studying, adapting to professional expectations and navigating cultural contexts, followed by a short conversation with stakeholders on supporting diverse voices in the profession.
The launch recognises the contribution international students make to Australia’s future social work workforce and invites dialogue on visibility, resilience, reflective practice and professional identity.
Facilitated by Rex Zhang, a Sydney-based social work educator and AASW NSW BMC member whose work focuses on cultural safety, migration experiences and supporting students entering the profession.
International students are an important part of Australia’s social work education and future workforce, bringing valuable perspectives through their experiences of studying and navigating different cultural and professional contexts.
This event shares reflections from international social work students and creates space for conversation about visibility, resilience, and professional identity, while encouraging dialogue on how the profession can better support diverse pathways into the workforce.
