SA Christians in Social Work Networking Group meet for a meal and networking opportunity. This meeting will focus on coercive control with a presentation by Angela Powell.
Coercive control is an act or a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim.
Coercive and controlling behaviour is at the heart of domestic abuse, and occurs within all realms of society including Christian relationships.
When experiencing coercive control, what unique strengths can be utilised by clients with a Christian faith? And what are some of additional challenges which these clients may also experience?
Come along to a discussion on this topic as we focus upon a case study. Further discussion will be included on how to educate church leadership around coercive control.
