World Social Work Day 2019
World Social Work Day is celebrated each year on the third Tuesday of each March. This year, it falls on Tuesday, 19 March 2019. World Social Work Day is when we celebrate and recognise social workers as champions for social justice, self-determination and human rights.
This year's theme is Promoting the Importance of Human Relationships.
Social workers are skilled, knowledgeable and specialise in issues related to social and emotional wellbeing. Working holistically with individuals, families and communities, social workers are passionate advocates for a fairer Australia. We have created resources for organisations and individuals around Australia to host their own World Social Work Day events, available on this page.
AASW branches around Australia will also host events. Visit this page regularly for updates.

This year, we want the hashtag #WSWD19 to trend on Twitter in Australia on 19 March 2019. This means that it must be in the top ten most used hashtags on the day. Get involved in the campaign by tweeting a positive social work story and photo which captures the theme of 'human relationships'. Use the hashtag #WSWD19 and mention us @AASW_
As the Oceanic countries head into World Social Work Day first globally, let's lead the world in raising awareness of the vital work of social workers.
No Twitter? No problem! We can share your social work story on your behalf. Send us a picture capturing 'human relationships' and your story in 240 characters or fewer, including the hashtag #WSWD19 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will publish the best tweets on this page and in our publications.
