World Social Work Day 2024

The NT Branch held a very successful World Social Work Day event on the 19th March. The event was a collaboration between the AASW NT Branch, Charles Darwin University and NT Government. The event was hosted by the Honourable Selena Uibo, Minister for Health and the Chief Minister and NT Parliament Speaker attended along with 70 Darwin based social workers and guests. The event was held at NT Parliament House a spectacular view over Darwin harbour, with social workers treated to delicious food and drinks at no cost to the AASW.

A First Nations Student Social Work Award was presented to Priscilla Smith and a Lifetime Achievement Award given to Toni Ryan who among other things was instrumental in the establishment of the NT Mary Moylan Social Worker of the Year Awards.

The event was a great example of what can be achieved when Branches engage and network locally.
