The VIC Branch is supported by a Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership.

The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues.

Have your say on social work scope of practice

There is an ongoing conversation in the profession about what social workers actually do, how broad that work is, and how well it is understood. The AASW Victoria Branch Management Committee (BMC) has opened stage one of a consultation to help answer those questions for social work in Victoria.

This survey asks about your day-to-day practice and takes around ten minutes. The Victoria BMC will use the results in local and national discussions to help drive advocacy for the profession, and develop a definition of scope of practice that covers all areas of social work, including areas that are still emerging. A summary of responses will be presented at the AASW Social Work Congress in November, where scope of practice will be discussed nationally.

This is the first part of a larger body of work. Stage two will involve in-depth conversations and engagement with Victorian social workers and stakeholders. The BMC would like to hear from anyone who wants to be part of it. There is space at the end of the survey to leave your contact details.

Who can take part

The survey is open to any social worker practising in Victoria who holds an AASW-accredited qualification. You do not need to be an AASW member. All responses are anonymous.
