Branch – Western Australian

The Western Australia Branch, with over 1,300 members, is supported by a voluntary Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership. 

The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues. 

Reconciliation Week Aboriginal Art Classes

This Reconciliation Week the WA Branch are bringing you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Dreamtime stories and Aboriginal art techniques from Dale Tilbrook, a Wardandi Bibbulmun woman originating from the Margaret River, Busselton Area. This is a beginner class and you will only need to bring yourself!

Events will be held on 25 May and 1 June at Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery, Mandoon Estate, 10 Harris Road Caversham WA from 12.00 pm – 2.00 pm (AWST). For registration and further details, please click on the following links:

Demistifying Men's Behaviour Change Panel

On 28 February the WA Branch ran a panel discussion on the Demistifying Men’s Behaviour Change program.  It was well attended and provided locals with an opportunity to learn and network.  The panel included representatives from:

  • Stronger Families Foundation Ltd
  • Relationships Australia
  • Anglicare

Panel and Networking Event

We were delighted to host the Panel and Networking Session held on 14 February at the Margaret Fairweather Education Space, UWA Crawley Campus, A wonderful evening with conversations around current emerging themes and challenges in the social work sector, including issues including sustainability, social prescribing, attracting higher social work student numbers, and promoting the regional workforce.
