Friday 3 December 2021 Social Work and Disability in a welfare market: a human rights approach?
Presentation

The practice of social workers and other allied health professionals is underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD 2006). In reality, it can appear that service provision is driven by a market focus, propelled by the neo-liberal economy, which prioritises market value over best interest. Do we as a value-based profession have a future as a human rights focused profession or is a new paradigm needed?

This conference will bring together social work practitioners, researchers, students and allied health professionals to share ideas, experiences and new perspectives, so that we are all better equipped and ready to articulate who we are as a profession and what binds us in our diversity moving forward.
