Interactive Workshop

7.5 CPD hours

Do you work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a role that is not specifically therapy or counselling, but you still want to apply culturally appropriate trauma-informed principles to your work?

This training, subsidised by the AASW as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, aims to enable social workers in non-therapeutic roles to enhance their understanding of the complex, collective and intergenerational trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and to work in ways which enhance safety, minimise re-traumatisation and support healing.

This training is suitable for social workers who work in health, housing, employment, disability, aged care, child protection and similar services. It is also suitable for counselling or mental health social workers who wish to explore the particular types, dynamics and impacts of trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples, but doesn’t address therapeutic work directly.
