The Lunchbox Series - is a series of 6 lunchtime events aimed at Social Work Students who are undertaking their placements (and those who aren't) to supplement your learning with practical "life skills in the workplace" learning on several topics.

This sessions will be a candid discussions by Social Workers for Social Workers.

Southern Networking Walk

Meet at the entrance gate to the Cascades Female Factory at 16 Degraves Street South Hobart at 12.00pm and walk to the Foodstore at 356 Macquarie Street South Hobart for an optional take away hot drink before walking back to the female factory. This is an opportunity for some fresh air, exercise and conversation with your fellow Social Workers.

Jacqui Russell will be convening these sessions and will be spotted in a white AASW polo t.shirt.

Sessions will be rain or shine, so come dressed appropriately.

North Networking dinner

Dr Carrie Lethborg is a Tasmanian Social Worker with an extensive academic, research and practice background in a range of settings in Australia and overseas. She has over 30-years’ experience in oncology and palliative care social work from a clinical and research perspective at the Alfred and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Melbourne

Since returning to Tasmania, she continues as a distance worker in Health Equity research and Trauma Informed Care at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She also provides debriefing and staff support for the Breast Cancer Network Australia, Ovarian Cancer Australia and the Cancer Council of Victoria and she recently returned to her Alma Mater – UTAS as a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Rural Health (UTAS).

At this networking event Dr Lethborg will present on Trauma informed Care:

  • a framework for understanding lived experiences
  • a paradigm shift for human service organisations
  • an ‘approach’ to care for all people
  • what social workers have been doing for years
