Endorsed CPD: 1 day workshop

With the development of neuroscience and its emphasis on the necessity of working with the body for effective therapeutic work, more practitioners are bringing work with the body into the therapy room. The most common method for doing this is to focus on the development of Insight. In this process, the therapist teases out themes, patterns and repetitions that are occurring at a level of body awareness or mindfulness. Insight develops and self-knowledge increases. However, as with traditional therapeutic approaches, other somatic interventions are available to deepen the therapeutic effectiveness of working with the body.

5 September 2020 Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) - A full day workshop of theory, skills and resources for immediate application
Endorsed CPD: 1 day workshop

Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is a chronic disorder characterised by excessive worry, accompanied by somatic symptoms such as restlessness, sleep disturbance, muscle tension and fatigue. It is one of the most common co-morbid disorders, particularly with major depression and other anxiety disorders. GAD is also frequently associated with chronic pain conditions, medically unexplained symptoms and sleep disorders. Estimates of lifetime prevalence range between 4.0% and 7.0%. Because of its frequently chronic course, GAD has the potential to create greater disruption in peoples' lives than other anxiety disorders. Historically, it has been less responsive to psychological treatment than other anxiety disorders, and until around 2000, studies reviewing treatment outcomes based on standard CBT interventions found limited improvements.

It is through the stories we have about ourselves, others and life in general that we make sense of things and navigate our way in the world. 26 November 2020 Domestic and Family Violence, Attachment and Complexity Practice focused concepts and tools to address risk, perpetration and prevention
Endorsed CPD: 1 day workshop

Domestic violence is often complex: the intersection of multiple lives, histories and contexts. When it comes to prevention/intervention, this heterogeneity presents formidable challenges. When viewed from a few selected perspectives the evident complexity offers new opportunities. One promising approach to such complexity has been research into the identification of developmental pathways and risks associated with domestic violence (DV) and family violence (FV). Such an approach provides at least two benefits: (1) an understanding of antecedents and possible risk (sometimes causal ones via longitudinal studies) and (2) a model to comprehend complexity in current experience.
