THIS IS AN IN PERSON LEARNING PROGRAM: 2 days of In person training in Melbourne, will take place on the 17 & 18 October 2024, with approximately 8 hours of pre-work to be completed before the live practicum.

A link to the pre-workshop modules will be sent by EMDR Academy 3 weeks before the Iive practicum.
For reasons of safety, these on-demand modules are compulsory and must be completed 48 hrs before the live practicum. A failure to complete on time may result in cancellation of enrolment without refund. Please read all instructions thoroughly.
Pre-requisite criteria for Level 1 Training: an approved social work degree, membership of AASW, and 2 years of experience providing mental health counselling.
Required text: Shapiro, F. (2018) Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy: Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures 3rd Edition, Guilford Press: New York. Participants must have access to a copy of the required text prior to commencing the program.
* To complete Level 1 training, 5 hours of consultation must be completed after the live practicum. You will be able to book and pay for this individually with EMDR Academy or another provider of your choice. Level 1 EMDR training will enable you to use the therapy with clients in your own practice.
EMDR is an FPS (Focussed Psychological Strategy) service and is claimable with Medicare if you have a Medicare provider number. Completion of Level 1 Training will also enable you to join EMDRAA as an Associate member. Please note: This clinical training is both rewarding and demanding.
The pre-workshop modules involve detailed lectures and reflections. The live practicum requires participants to give and receive EMDR on real life events. It is important that you have the emotional energy and time to commit to the training. If not, consider doing the course when you feel better equipped.
