What is the Clinical and Mental Health Practice Group?
The CMHPG provides a forum for social workers to network and participate in skill building processes. It is ideal for social workers currently working in the field of Mental Health or Clinical Social Work or those who are considering pursuing a career in this field of practice.
The topic for this meeting is "Dying with dignity – An overview of a progressing service by the QLD Health voluntary assisted dying team". We are delighted to have Belinda Matigian and Cathy Ray.
Cathy Ray is an Advanced Social Worker with the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support and Pharmacy Service (QVAD SPS). She has worked in Qld Health for many years in the acute, rehabilitation and palliative care sectors, with a passion for promoting client autonomy and optimising their healthcare experiences.
Belinda Matigian is an Advanced Social Worker with the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support and Pharmacy Service. She has many years experience in Qld Health in the areas of trauma, oncology and palliative care in both adult and paediatric services. She is passionate about end-of-life psychosocial care and improving patient and family coping. Currently she is coordinating the education arm of QVAD, responsible for both consumer and health professional awareness and training.
