Live Online Webinar
Capability levels: Established & Expert
Join this interactive online webinar designed to extend your understanding and application of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in working with angry and emotionally dysregulated clients. Tailored primarily for established and expert social workers, this educational session will also offer valuable insights for practitioners at any stage of their EMDR learning journey.
With a strong focus on skill development and reflective practice, participants will explore EMDR-specific language, tools, and techniques aligned with the eight phases of EMDR therapy. The session will incorporate real-world case studies, polls, and Q&A opportunities to deepen understanding and promote active engagement. Through this interactive format, attendees will have the chance to reflect, problem-solve and critically analyse complex client presentations within safe and supportive discussion.
Drawing on evidence-based practice and professional expertise, the webinar will highlight assessment considerations, counselling environments, and key strategies for working effectively with emotionally dysregulated clients. Cultural diversity and its influence on therapeutic engagement will also be woven throughout the case material and psycho-education.
This session offers more than information—it’s an opportunity to build confidence and enhance your clinical practice through collaborative exploration, reflective discussion, and skill refinement within the EMDR framework. It will showcase the valuable impact EMDR therapy, as a bottom-up treatment approach, can have on a client’s anger and emotional regulation issues, and provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on any biases or micro-aggressions they might have in working with this group.
Who Should Attend?
This webinar is targeted at anyone interested in learning more about EMDR therapy and its application as a ‘bottom up approach’ to treating mental health conditions.
Aimed at an intermediate audience with established experience in EMDR therapy, this webinar is also suitable for social workers and other mental health professionals who are looking to deepen their knowledge of EMDR; or have a specific interest in working with emotional dysregulation, anger and violence.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
· Identify how to apply the EMDR 8 phase standard protocol in working with emotionally dysregulated and clients experiencing anger management issues.
· Understand some of the specific nuances and clinical considerations to be made in applying EMDR to clients with anger and emotional dysregulation issues.
· Evaluate your skill level and comfortability in implementing EMDR with this client group; identifying and reflecting on any micro-aggressions, prejudices or biases might you hold about working with this client group that is inhibiting your current practice.
