A webinar for experienced EMDR therapists on adapting therapy for neurodivergent clients. Covers practical, lifespan-informed strategies, cultural understanding, and addressing “negative self-belief” themes to improve neuro-affirming, ethical practice.
Live Online Webinar
Capability levels: Established & Expert
When we don’t understand neurodivergence, we risk misreading the client and misdirecting the therapy. EMDR is powerful, but without adapting it for our neurodivergent clients, we may unintentionally be working against the client’s nervous system.
One in 5 clients in Australia may be neurodivergent, and yet, most of us are never formally trained to work with it. So, if neurodivergence is so common why do so many EMDR therapist feel so underprepared to work with it? This webinar will be an exploration of tips and suggested adaptions, where EMDR clinicians can grow their confidence in working in a neuro-affirming way.
In this webinar, participants will develop practical, life-span informed adaptions to EMDR for neurodivergent clients, deepen their cultural understanding of neurodivergence and learn how to address the themes of ‘defectiveness’ that so often shape client’s trauma narratives; strengthening ethical, attuned social work practice.
