AASW North Queensland in Mackay Meet Janet King, Vice President of the North Queensland Branch and Mackay based Branch Management Committee Members Sandy McCristal and Bernadette Stein for Networking in Mackay
You are invited to join Janet King, the Vice President of the AASW North Queensland Branch, together with Mackay based Branch Management Committee Members Sandy McCristal and Bernadette Stein for the annual networking event in Mackay. This is an opportunity to come together in a relaxed environment to:
- learn more about the ASSW both at a national and branch level;
- provide your feedback, comments and suggestions to the President and Branch Manager;
- provide information about yourself, your business and social work related activities in the community;
- explore ways in which the North Queensland branch can support you and your social work interests;
- meet other social workers.
About Janet King
Janet is the Senior Support Worker/North Queensland Domestic Violence Sector Development Worker for the North Queensland Domestic Violence Resource Service (NQDVRS) based in Townsville. As part of her role, Janet supports the domestic violence workers in the areas of Ingham, Palm Island, the Burdekin and Charters Towers. Janet graduated with a Social Work 1st Class Honours Degree from James Cook University in 2002 and since then has undertaken various social work roles in the community, in both government and non-government organisations. Janet has extensive experience working with those who are impacted by domestic and family violence and holds a Diploma in Workplace Assessment and Training. Janet’s passion is for the safety and wellbeing of women, children and men as well as the broader community.
About Sandy McCristal
Sandy has worked in a diverse range of community and human service fields, most recently commissioning services to address gaps in the primary Mental Health and AOD sector. Sandy also works as a counsellor and provides supervision and field liaison with CQU for social work students undertaking placements.
About Bernadette Stein
Bernadette has experience in child protection, family law, assessments, professional supervision, counselling and consultancy. Since 2006 she has been in private practice specialising in family law as a Regulation 7 Family Consultant and also providing counselling to children and families specifically in regard to family law issues. Bernadette also provides professional supervision and consultancy services such as team building days and training focussed on communication and respect in the workplace.
