NAIDOC Week Celebration

The AASW WA Branch would like for you to join us in celebrating NAIDOC week.

NAIDOC Week spans across 8-15 July, and is a time for Australians to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This years theme, Because of Her, We Can! focusses on the active and significant roles Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women play at the community, local, state and national levels. 'As leaders, trailblazers, politicians, activists and social change advocates, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women fought and continue to fight, for justice, equal rights, our rights to country, for law and justice, access to education, employment and to maintain and celebrate our culture, language, music and art' (NAIDOC Website).

The celebration will include:

  • Welcome to country by Aboriginal Elders
  • Yarning circle
  • NAIDOC Celebration
  • Celebrating 1000 AASW WA members.
  • An unveiling of the new WA Branch Office
  • Refreshments and finger food
  • The opportunity to network with other social workers

Registrations are essential.
