Supported Decision Making Workshop
Presented by ACT Disability, Aged and Carer Advocacy Service

A new way of enabling equitable access......

As professionals working across many areas of government and community service we are well aware of the barriers to the exercise of human rights encountered by people with disabilities. Over the past few decades ADACAS has offered free individual advocacy to our community in the ACT and surrounds and used the learnings from this to explore and research innovative ways to respond to the issues that arise.

In the light of UNCRPD obligations, ADACAS has been exploring the spectrum of decision making support to minimise the denial of rights which exists in substitute decision making appointments. Everyone has a role in supported decision making. The projects team has developed an innovative way of delivering supported decision making – the Network model and produced tools and resources to articulate how we can enable equitable access and exercise of human rights.

Join ADACAS projects team for an open discussion on the context, development and implementation of a potentially valuable resource in a confronting area of social work practice.
