Annual Meeting and Dinner: Friday 16 November 2018 Launceston

The Tasmanian Branch Management Committee invites all members of the Tasmanian social work community to attend the 2018 Annual Members' Meeting and Dinner.

  • The Annual Members' Meeting is free to attend and no registration is required
  • The Annual Members' Dinner commences at 7.30pm and requires registration and payment prior to the event

6.00pm Arrival: Complimentary canapes and networking. (Drinks available at bar prices)

6.30pm Annual meeting:

  • Welcome and introduction of the AASW National President and the AASW Chief Executive Officer
  • Hear from outgoing Branch President Russell McCashney and incoming Branch President Jacqui Russell
  • Farewell of retiring committee members
  • Introduction of incoming Branch Committee members and notice of any vacancies

7.15pm Close of annual meeting & departure of those not attending the dinner

7.30pm Dinner: Two-course dinner of main and dessert (alternate drop)

Keynote presentation: Guest speaker Christine Craik will speak on her research and work in Family Violence

Q&A with Cindy Smith and Christine Craik: questions submitted on notice prior to the meeting.

Branch Management Committee Vacancies

The Tasmanian Branch has three vacant positions for general Committee Members on our Branch Management Committee. These positions are for two year terms concluding on 31 October 2020.

We are seeking nominations for these vacancies from committed and enthusiastic AASW TAS members with time available to contribute to the work of the Branch in a variety of portfolios and roles. The following documents provide more information on the roles and responsibilities of the National Board, National Office and Branches, along with the general BMC role statement:

Nomination forms are available for download here.Nomination forms can be submitted via email to the following address: by no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 13 November 2018.

In the event that the number of nominations exceeds the number of the positions available, an election will be held during the Members' Meeting. During this process, the nominees will be provided with up to two minutes to deliver a candidate statement or a candidate statement of no more than 500 words may be read out by the Returning Officer or AASW delegate should a candidate be unable to attend. The Branch will notify candidates if a statement needs to be prepared following the close of nominations on Tuesday 13 November.

All financial members will be provided with the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates, through a proxy vote if they are unable to attend the meeting in person. Details regarding proxy voting will be provided closer to the Branch Annual Members' Meeting once we know the number of nominations received.
