Branch Spotlight

Meet our newest BMC Member: Kit Speakman

Kit grew up in a country town called Parkes where he finished High School in 2006 before moving to Sydney. Kit worked in a number of industries such as hospitality, call centres and even the defence force but found he wanted a career that helped people in there daily lives. While working at the Hilton Hotel, he completed a Cert IV in Community Services while also picking up casual employment in the sector.

Eventually, he was offered a permanent contract with a large disability organisation called Disability Services Australia where is worked for 8 years and looks back with positive memories. During this time, he began his studies in Social Work at Western Sydney University and juggled employment with his studies. After 11 years of living in Sydney, Kit and his partner decided to move to Hobart after his graduation in 20018.

While the first year had it's up's and down's, Hobart is now feeling like home with new friends and familiarity. Currently, Kit is back at his studies completing a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and working as a Coordinator of Supports within the NDIS.  He loves his work and still gets excited to be involved in the daily work of his industry after all these years. Kit is thrilled to be the latest member the Tasmanian BMC.
