The Individual Funding Social Work Practice Group offers peer support and information sharing to any social worker interested in individualised funding services. This includes individual practice, community development and service system design in the disability and aged care fields amongst others. Disability services are being transformed by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and aged care by consumer directed care (CDC) and new roles and opportunities are evolving that are available to social workers.
The Practice Group meets every two months to share ideas, strategies and innovative approaches to working as a social worker in the individual funding environment.
Open to all social workers with an interest in this field of practice.

Monday 12 August 2019
The speaker will be Sarah Forbes, Advocacy Manager at VALID, an advocacy service for people with intellectual disability working closely with the NDIS. Sarah has a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges the NDIS brings, and will discuss VALID's work plus opportunities for social workers to work with the NDIS.

A representative from the Summer Foundation will speak about young people with disabilities who have complex needs and are at risk of entering an aged care residential service, or are already in an aged care service, and how the NDIS can support them to access alternative housing and support.
Monday 8 April 2019
This meeting will differ from the usual as we won't have a guest speaker. Instead, members of the group will share their experiences of individual funding - be this the NDIS or Consumer-Directed Care (CDC) in aged care. Everyone who has direct experience is invited to contribute.

Guest Speaker Meredith Coote, General Manager at MABLE (formerly Better Caring) will explain their web based support worker recruitment service for the disability and aged fields.
