See the AASW Membership pages for the reduced New Graduate Membership rate. The New Graduate Reduced Fee is for Members renewing or joining within 2 years of completion of their first qualifying Social Work degree. This recognises that new graduates have many expenses to recover in their first few years after graduation and we believe that your continued membership of AASW in these years is important.
If a student member successfully completes all of the requirements of their degree mid way through the membership year, they may contact the membership team and we will upgrade their student membership at no cost to them, to the new graduate rate for the remainder of that membership year.
Finding a Job
There is good information on the employment outlook for the profession to be found on the government job outlook web pages.
A practical guide for students and graduating practitioners
This Handbook is intended for Social Work students and new graduates of Australia. Provided within this handbook are documents which provide an overview of the student / employment transition process of those who are entering Social Work. The Handbook then progresses readers through the key tasks involved in preparation for professional employment and information on how to manage self-care along the way. In the final chapters this Handbook provides information on accessing the Australian Social Work job market.

We also offer tips on finding Social Work jobs via web based resources.
Our most recent tool for getting your Social Work career up and running is an Individual Action Plan which we suggest getting together with colleagues or supervisors to develop into an itinerary for your next move.
